Trek Wae Rebo Mountain, Flores

Trek Wae Rebo is a traditional Manggarai village located in the mountains of Flores, Indonesia. It is famous for its unique cone-shaped houses (Mbaru Niang) and for being a UNESCO cultural heritage site. The village is isolated; the only way to reach it is by trekking through the forest and hills.

  • Arrival at Wae Rebo Village: Welcome traditional ceremony (waelu’u)

Best Time to trek Wae rebo

  • Dry season (May – September) → Safer trails, clear skies, better views.
  • Rainy season (October – April) → Trails can be slippery and more challenging.

What to Bring Wae Rebo 

  • Comfortable hiking shoes (anti-slip).
  • Warm clothes (nights and mornings can be chilly).
  • Drinking water & light snacks for the hike.
  • Raincoat/poncho
  • Headlamp or flashlight (electricity only runs from evening to night).
